The Full Moon in Aquarius Is Asking You to Stop Living for Everyone Else
Personally, I’ve really been feeling this shift rise to the surface. This realisation that a lot of my habits, self-talk, and the general weight of the pressure I constantly feel is coming from the expectations of everyone else. Not the expectations I’ve placed on myself.
My new favourite hack? When I catch that negative self-talk, I visualise a man saying the same thing to me. In true Leo fashion, it lights the fire under me to say, “Absolutely not. I won’t hear another word”. And to prove them wrong.
While I tuck into my monthly pepperoni pizza and margarita, here are some notes on this month’s powerful moon as we enter my beloved Leo Season.
What Makes the July 2026 Full Moon in Aquarius So Powerful?
I have a soft spot for the Aquarius Full Moon because it always seems to arrive when I've started running on autopilot. Aquarius is a sign that tends to ask bigger questions: Where are you trying too hard to fit in? Where have you confused being accepted with being aligned? Where are you shrinking yourself to make life easier for other people?
And sure enough, I find myself saying yes because it's easier than saying no. I'll keep doing things simply because I've always done them, and that familiarity is comfortable. I'll put on a daring performance for everyone showing that I'm "fine", even when I’m not tuned into my own feelings at all. I’m living within a version of myself that I edit before speaking, keeping opinions to myself to keep the peace, and not claiming my dreams because that takes a lot of time, effort, energy, you name it.
Then along comes this Full Moon and asks a very annoying question.
Is this actually the life you want, Alix?
Not the life that looks good on paper. But what you want.
Aquarius has a reputation for being independent, unconventional, and a little rebellious. Whether or not you believe in astrology, I think there's something refreshing about questioning the rules you've accidentally made for yourself.
Who says you have to keep doing things the way you've always done them?
Who says you've missed your chance to change your mind? (If there’s an actual person, are they worth listening to?)
Who says growing up means becoming less yourself?
This Full Moon is also known as the Buck Moon, named for the time of year when male deer begin growing a fresh set of antlers.
I love that image because it represents that painfully awkward teenage period where you haven’t grown into yourself yet. Antlers don't appear overnight. They look a bit strange before becoming something magnificent. And that’s really what the aquarius full moon is about. It’s about setting the stage for what you’re transforming into.
Is the July 2026 Full Moon in Aquarius especially intense?
Let’s not beat around the bush. The answer is a resounding yes. This is a turning point. Let’s look at the collective context here.
In case you didn’t know, the sign of the moon is the opposite of the sign of the sun. So, since we’re entering Leo season in terms of the sun, this moon falls under Aquarius. Think of complementary colours on the colour wheel. This is super relevant because Leo is having a Big Moment. Jupiter, the planet that's usually associated with luck, growth, opportunity, and expansion, has just moved into Leo for the first time since 2014.
Luck doesn’t mean sitting back and letting everything perfectly fall into place without lifting a finger. Jupiter is more like a giant highlighter. It takes whatever you've already been working towards and makes it harder to ignore. Opportunities feel bigger. Confidence feels easier to access. The things you've been dreaming about feel possible. The opportunities you chase don’t run away from you.
So if this Full Moon feels a little more emotionally loaded, that makes sense.
It may bring up questions like:
What parts of my life are genuinely mine?
Where am I performing instead of participating?
Am I choosing this, or just continuing it?
What would change if I stopped trying to be what everyone expects?
You don’t have to have perfect answers to any of that. This isn’t the time for problem-solving, it’s just the time for honesty with yourself, noticing, and making headway on acceptance of what needs to change.
What should I keep in mind with this Aquarius full moon?
Keep it simple. Aquarius can make everything feel bigger than it needs to be, so remember to counter-balance. You do not need to solve your whole life during a full moon. It’s just a good time to notice what isn’t serving you anymore. Be honest with yourself. If you want to take an action away from it, pick one small act for this week that will propel you toward a life that feels more like you.
